Shipping Costs
To find the shipping costs for a particular item, simply put it in your basket, proceed to checkout and enter an appropriate shipping address (there is no danger of making an accidental purchase - there are several stages to the checkout procedure). Please be aware that for some items an additional charge applies in respect of delivery to the Highlands and Islands, or to Scotland generally, so we advise that you check charges to several destinations. Postage calculations are county based within the UK and country based outside the UK, so those fields should be accurately completed. If you are prompted to request a quote, you should follow the instructions to obtain accurate shipping information for the chosen destination. Please note that not all products can be shipped overseas, so be sure to obtain shipping information prior to advertising abroad.
Shipping Times and Methods
Orders will be shipped as soon as possible after payment has been verified. Orders paid online by debit or credit card will often be shipped the same day, and almost always within 48 hours: orders paid by cheque or e-cheque will not be shipped until the payment has been cleared by our bank. The customer will be notified by e-mail when an order is despatched.
UK orders will be sent via first class recorded post or other signed-for carrier service. Unless otherwise advised, delivery will normally be within seven working days, though customers should be aware that delays can occur, particularly at peak periods like Christmas. Please allow up to 28 days for goods to arrive, except where you have been given a specific delivery date, in which case please contact us within 48 hours if your order has not been delivered as arranged.
We will do our best to accommodate customer requests regarding delivery arrangements, but where this would necessitate using a non-signed for service, please be aware that:
- we are unable to ship some products via a non-signed for service
- if we ship via standard mail at a customer's request, we do so strictly at the customer's own risk
Overseas orders up to 2kg will be sent via International Signed For, which provides proof of delivery and an element of insurance cover for loss or damage in transit. We will ship via standard airmail if required, but strictly at the customer's own risk - anyone wishing to pursue this option should submit their order by e-mail rather than our automatic online ordering system. Orders over 2kg will be sent via Datapost.
Next Day Delivery
Where next day delivery is offered, this means the next business day after an order is processed. Orders must be placed before 3 pm on a normal working day to qualify for next day delivery. Orders received outside of normal business hours will be processed on the next working day.
Returns
Whilst every effort is made to maintain our high standards, we appreciate that there will be occasions when goods fail to meet expectations. Any error, omission or damage must be reported within forty-eight hours to Customer Services. The goods should then be returned for exchange or refund within seven days of delivery, in the original packaging and via our nominated carrier, to:

Please ensure that higher value items are properly insured; and that the full name, address and order number are included. If the items do prove to be faulty, damaged or otherwise not as ordered, we will reimburse the postage costs.
We are not bound by the distance selling regulations because Help is at Hand is a business to business (b2b) company. This means that we are not obliged to accept returns unless the item is faulty. If you choose to cancel an order after the item has been despatched and we decide to accept the return you will be responsible for the cost of returning the item. Items must be returned unused and in their original unspoilt packaging. Items which are despatched direct from our suppliers may be subject to a restocking fee on return: we reserve the right to pass on any such charges incurred. Please be aware that some items, such as goods made to order, cannot be cancelled once payment has been received.
